Season finale?

:iconclapplz:

I loved it.
The FiM team is amazing, and I am consistently impressed with the work they do on each episode.

I marvel at the believability they breathe into the world and the characters. From the writing to the music to the animation. Each component is seriously and thoughtfully composed... The emotions of the characters feel genuine, and because the characters take themselves seriously, the viewers connect with them.
Cartoons/animations/comics have immense power... and it makes me so happy to see a cartoon that finally takes that power seriously. Most people dismiss the idea of cartoons being serious, and that is a tragic mistake... Cartoons are symbolic in their expression, and the more "simple" they are, the more symbolic they may become. My Little Pony is the perfect example of this. The designs are simple, but the symbolism is rich with meaning and substance (because the creators care). This is why it is a good show.

Children deserve to be taken seriously.
I can't understand why anyone would want to "dumb down" a child's world, and to shelter them from complex thought. The intelligence of children needs to be respected.

"Only children know what they are looking for."
- 'The Little Prince', Antoine de Saint Exupery

But yes... Amazing episode.

I almost cried at a few parts... Twilight's 'BBBFF' song got my eyes all hot and watery.
I'm an only child, and for a time when I was younger, I really wanted a sibling. When I was five years old, I'd sit on my bed and pray out my open window to god for a little brother or sister... But no matter how many times I promised to be the best big sister I could possibly be... My parents had already decided that one child was enough. I was too young to understand the logic/responsibilities of adults, and so I blamed god for denying me a younger sibling. I felt forsaken. So what was an angry, lonely, five-year-old to do? Stop believing in god, of course. My child logic decided that god wasn't real because he wouldn't answer my simple prayer (a prayer for love).
Instead? I invented my own spirituality for the world around me. My imagination kept me company, stories taught me about life, and drawing was my refuge. When I needed comforting conversation at my open window? I'd talk to my grandmother, not god. These days, I enjoy the fact that I'm an only child. I learned how to keep myself company, and close friends are a great substitute for siblings.
Being an only child has its perks, but sometimes it can be lonely. Twilight's song reminded me of that lonely wish I used to have when I was little, and I got a little choked up. While Twilight had her books to lose herself in, I had my drawings.
"When I was just a filly, I found it rather silly to see how many other ponies I could meet. I had my books to read, didn't know that I would ever need--other ponies to make my life complete..."
I hope they make an episode for the only children at some point... Because there's some lonely kids out there who could use some advice from cartoon ponies.

And then Cadence's love for Shining Armor got to me... What girl doesn't want to save the love of her life? Her song was fantastic. Very Disney (except better).
I like Cadence.
I've seen several comments talking about her powers of love...
Personally, I don't believe she has the power to make anyone fall in love against their will. That would go against her power/ability... Instead, I think her powers would operate more like a love "lens". She has the ability to "refocus" the mind/heart, bringing existing love back into balance.
The word cadence means: "balanced, rhythmic flow, as of poetry or oratory."
Princess Cadence restores the balanced, rhythmic flow of love.

And then the new villain was great... More of a "neutral evil" type. Nightmare Moon would have been "lawful evil", and Discord "chaotic evil". I am excited to see what the next villain is going to be... I'm willing to bet the next one might be an existing character, or more of an internal conflict type thing (existing character turning evil?). Or perhaps a "force" or something that isn't "evil", but is disruptive.  I'm hoping they do something really different from what we've seen so far... But whatever they do, I have a feeling I won't be disappointed.
Loved her design. Insect pony. Awesome.

All in all, a fantastic end to a fantastic season.
I'm excited for the third season! Third season runs of shows are usually the best. The writers have an established world to work with, a fan-base for support, and the freedom to do more. And the more successful the show gets, the less I think Hasbro will micro-manage it because they will see the value in trusting the artists to create (thanks to a most unique and loyal fan base).
Now begins another long wait until the new season... Pony on, my friends. Pony on.

Peace.

If anything, I would love to see one of the old villains brought into the show somehow, like Arabus or the witches of mount gloom.
